Dear Students and Parents,

Spring Concerts Start This Week

Our Instrumental Music ensembles will perform at spring concerts next week.

 

Monday, May 16th will feature our Concert Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Symphony Orchestra ensembles.

 

Tuesday, May 17th will feature our Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble.

 

Thursday, May 19th will feature our Lab Jazz and Studio A Jazz Ensembles.

 

All concerts will start at 7pm in the West Ranch Theater. Tickets will be $10 per person for each concert.

 

Volunteers Needed for Super Jazz Event ASAP - May 21st

Super Jazz at the Ranch is a big event where jazz bands from all over Southern California come to our school to perform and compete. We still need many more parent and student volunteers to help run the event this Saturday.

All Concert Ensembles Perform at Graduation - May 24th

West Ranch graduation will be held on May 24th at 7pm at College of the Canyons. All students (excluding seniors) who are in Concert Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble will perform at the ceremony.

 

Call time is 6pm at the College of the Canyons stadium.

 

Hawaii Kickoff Meeting - Wednesday, May 25th

Join us in the Band Room at 7pm on Wednesday, May 25th to get more information about the Hawaii trip next year! The meeting will cover dates, itinerary, and potential costs for the trip. We hope to see you there!

Spring Concerts Start Next Week!

District Wide Restaurant Fundraiser - Thursday, May 12th!

 

The WiSH Education Foundation is putting on a Jersey Mike’s fundraiser to raise money for all music programs in Santa Clarita. Our Harmony Club and West Ranch Choir will be performing at the Jersey Mike’s at 25660 The Old Road at 4:30pm. See click on this flyer for more information.

Our May booster meeting will be this Wednesday at 7pm in the West Ranch band room. We will be going over important band camp information so we strongly recommend parents attend!

Congratulations Winter Color Guard!

 

Our Color Guard competed in Championships this past weekend. They earned the gold medal in their round of semi-finals on Saturday. This win earned them a position in the Championship Finals against the top groups in the state in their division. They then went on to earn the bronze medal in Championship Finals on Sunday! Being promoted to an advanced division and earning two medals at Championships is a huge success for our team! Congratulations!

 

Restaurant Fundraiser - TODAY

 

Support our program by eating Firehouse Subs on Monday, April 25th. The fundraiser runs from 10am to 9pm and 20-30% of the proceeds will be donated back to West Ranch Music. See the attached flyer for more details.

 

WR Music & Color Guard Year End Banquet - Wednesday, April 27th

 

We look forward to seeing you at the banquet on Wednesday evening! As a reminder for those who bought tickets, the semi-formal event will be at the Odyssey in Granada Hills this Wednesday, April 27th from 6-10pm. Copies of the Year End Photo Slideshow and Video will be available for purchase on a USB drive for $10. To facilitate easier and faster checkout, we request that you bring exact change if you would like to purchase them. We will also accept credit cards as well but these will delay the checkout process.

Congratulations Winter Percussion!

 

Our two winter percussion ensembles competed this past weekend at the SCPA Championships. Our Winter Marching Percussion Ensemble earned 6th place in their division and Winter Concert Percussion earned first place to become the State Champions!! Congratulations Winter Percussion!

Winter Ensemble Showcase Performance

 

As the Winter Percussion and Winter Color Guard season comes to a close, we would like to invite friends and family to enjoy our Winter Ensemble Showcase. The three ensembles will perform in the West Ranch gym on Thursday, April 21st at 8pm. See the attached flyer for more details.

WR Music & Color Guard Year End Banquet —- LAST DAY TO RSVP!

 

We are thrilled to invite you to an end of the year celebration banquet to recognize the hard work of everyone involved in the music program at West Ranch. This semi-formal event will be at the Odyssey in Granada Hills on Wednesday, April 27th from 6-10pm. Tickets will be $60 per person and will include dinner, dessert, dancing, DJ, and Awards ceremony. Festival Band & Orchestra Results

Our two day fundraiser event ran very smoothly. Thank you to all parents and students for your hard work putting on the festival!

 

All four of our performing ensembles (Chamber Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Symphonic Band) earned the highest honor awarded at an SCSBOA festival: the Unanimous Superior rating. All judges agreed that our ensembles are performing at the highest level; a rare and incredible accomplishment!

Band and Orchestra Festival - March 29 and March 30

 

In addition to hosting this two day event at West Ranch, our concert ensembles will perform for adjudicators and receive a rating in our Theater. They will then move up to the library for a clinic to work with fantastic music educators from around southern California. Parents are invited to watch the performances and clinics free of charge!

 

Each ensemble will have a two hour time slot to account for call time, warm up, performance, and clinic. Students will be excused from classes that conflict with their performance times. Times for each group are as follows:

 

Tuesday, 3/29

Chamber Orchestra 3:45-5:45pm (4:45pm performance in the Theater)

Wind Ensemble 7:30-9:30pm (8:30pm performance in the Theater)

 

Wednesday, 3/30

Concert Orchestra 1:15-3:15pm (2:15pm performance in the Theater)

Symphonic Band 2:45-4:45pm (3:45pm performance in the Theater)

Congratulations Winter Percussion!

 

Our Winter Marching Percussion ensemble has been promoted to the highest possible level that they can compete in. There are only 18 high school groups in this division called "Percussion Scholastic World Class" in the entire world. Congratulations to our marching percussion!

 

This weekend our two ensembles competed at the second largest competition in the world for winter percussion! Our concert percussion group received the highest score in the nation and earned 1st place and Marching Percussion received an 8th place in their new elite division.

Showcase Concerts - TODAY, March 21 AND WEDNESDAY, March 23

 

West Ranch and Rancho Pico ensembles will perform at two more showcase concerts this week. Today (Monday), March 21st will feature all orchestras, and Wednesday, March 23rd will feature our concert bands. Tickets will be $10 per person per concert. West Ranch and Rancho Pico students get in for free! Call time for West Ranch students is 6:30pm on both days.

Raffle - Tickets deadline extended to Monday, March 14th

 

We are raffling off a $750.00 gift card to either the Apple Store or Amazon (winner’s choice). Tickets will be sent home by the end of this week, so please check with your child if you have not seen them by Friday. Also, check the letter inside of the tickets for all of the details on the raffle. As in past years, tickets sell for $2 each and each student is asked to sell 25 tickets. There is also a $2 off coupon for a Jersey Mike’s Sub on the back, so the raffle is a win-win for all.

 

All students who sell all 25 of their tickets will receive a $5 In-N-Out gift card! The raffle drawing will take place on Monday, March 14th, so all ticket stubs and funds will need to be turned in prior to that time.

 

Every year this fundraiser brings in over $7,000 for the music program! Thank you all for your help in this effort.

Booster Meeting Date Change - Monday, March 14th

 

Our next booster meeting will be held in the West Ranch band room on Monday, March 14th. School mask requirements will be lifted by this point allowing us to better connect with one another.

BONUS: each family that has a representative attend will be awarded with 5 raffle tickets before our final drawing!

Congratulations Winter Colorguard and Winter Percussion

 

Please join me in congratulating all of our winter ensembles for a successful performance this weekend! Our Winter Colorguard earned first place even after being promoted to an advanced class! Winter Concert Percussion earned first place and Winter Marching Percussion would have earned first place if not for a penalty relating to electronics. We are so proud of our Colorguard and Percussion students for a job well done!

Honor Band Rehearsal - Friday, March 6th

 

Just a reminder for those students who were selected for the Hart District honor band, your next rehearsal is this Friday, March 6th at Hart HS. The Friday practice will take place in the band room right off of Newhall Ave. Students must be seated by 8:15am and should arrive no later than 8am to allow time for parking. Rehearsal will end at 4pm. I will take care of emailing all student absences to the attendance office for the students to be excused on Friday. 

 

Students, please bring your school ID with you this day. Campus Supervisors at Hart will not be allowing anyone on to campus who does not have an ID with them.

Honor Band Rehearsal - Tuesday, February 22nd

 

Just a reminder for those students who were selected for the Hart District honor band, rehearsal is TODAY Tuesday, February 22nd at the Hart High School Auditorium from 6:30pm-9:00pm. Students must arrive no later than 6:20pm in order to be seated and ready for the start of rehearsal at 6:30.

Six of our talented students earned a position in All-State Honor Ensembles that performed this past weekend. Congratulations to Jason Chen, Valerie Chen, Jamie Cho, Aayda Abhyankar, Jessica O’Brien, and Nury Lee for fantastic performances!

Due to their success and achievement at the Castaic High School show, the Winter Color Guard team has been promoted to a more advanced division! They will now compete against more advanced groups due to their outstanding achievement!
